Hi all, have only recently joined the forum although have been out helping and photographing the adders up at Maulden in Beds for over a year now. Just thought i would post some pictures of the various reptile and amphibians that i have spotted this year (not all of them local to me)

Feel free to visit my wildlife blog - http://insearchofnature.blogspot.com/

Cheers

Ben

Hi,

The Wall Lizard was on the zig zag at Boscombe (no suprises there!), unfortunately i didn't spot any Green Lizards that day. The Sand Lizard pics were taken when i spent the day at Studland Heath, saw plenty of female and juveniles and only 1 fully coloured up male. Incidentally that male was only a few feet away from an adder, they were almost sharing the same basking area. No smooth snakes though, they are the only UK native reptile i am yet to see.

Tim - Yes all my adder pics are from Maulden (i probably have well over 200! But i wouldn't put anyone through seeing all of them!)

They seem to be doing really well up there, i am a member of BRAG and along with around 5 others visit the site as and when we can to note anything interesting. It's hard to get a definite number on things but we have spotted at least 10 individuals on the site this year, but there could easily be more that we may have missed. It's quite male heavy up there but a new female was recently introduced which could help.

I have also never seen a baby adder so am hoping i will get the chance this year!

Thanks, Ben

Thanks alot Dave!

Yes Tim, there are tons of common lizards that are always around the fence posts near where the adders are and i have also seen plenty of them using the same wood piles that some adders use too, so it seems like plenty of food!
