Well we had   a few hours break
from the rain 2day so had a half hour
snoop and testing another camera out
on the tow path see a few adults and
juveniles ,just about to snap three
together and a bloody dog walkers dog
snuffled up to me just as I focussed
on them , and they hopped it, also
see loads of bush crickets all biggies
I think it would be a brave lizzo
to tackle one.manage to snap two on a
favorite log & the one on its own looks like
its take away lunch is arriving just below it.

thanks keith. another great contribution with your usual wit and eye for the associated fauna as well as the herps.

is that species called the Arse-horned Cricket?

well why not?

sunday was cloud free skies all morning here so i went to a good local adder and lizard Woodland Trust site i hadnt visited for a while. i was optimistically(!) hoping for a late sighting since it was unusually warm and at an adder location deemed good enough to attract professional reptile film-makers. i surveyed really meticulously but no luck.

i didnt even see any interesting fungi despite searching mature beech woodland nearby for an hour.

bah!

Nice work Keith, rain? it stayed dry here in Maldon.

Spotted a male lizard and a juvenile on Sunday in the garden not long left for them now,  night temperatures are dropping fast.

Ben just remember when you get a good day all those where you saw nothing get forgotten
