Posted: 09 Jun 2003 Any ideas on this Bufo, from the Ebro region of northeast Spain - gets to the size of a teaplate apparently, and could eat three of our British B bufo at a time!! Gwent Amphibian and Reptile Group (GARG) |

Posted: 09 Jun 2003 The large Mediterranean toads are usually classified as the subspecies Bufo bufo spinosus. Surprisingly, there has been no comprehensive revision of the systematics of what we call currently call Bufo bufo - I would wager that a number of semi-cryptic species are hidden within this assemblage. Posted: 29 Jun 2003 Nice picture showing the small spines on the warts from where I believe the subspecific name comes from British Herpetological Society Librarian and member of B.H.S Conservation Committee. Self employed Herpetological Consultant and Field Worker. |
