Any ideas on this Bufo, from the Ebro region of northeast Spain - gets to the size of a teaplate apparently, and could eat three of our British B bufo at a time!!

The large Mediterranean toads are usually classified as the subspecies Bufo bufo spinosus.

Surprisingly, there has been no comprehensive revision of the systematics of what we call currently call Bufo bufo - I would wager that a number of semi-cryptic species are hidden within this assemblage.

looks like a Bufo marinus to me, except the paratoids are slightly too small...

Nice picture showing the small spines on the warts from where I believe the subspecific name comes from
