As intrepid adventurers we even found steaks and Coca Cola, bread and lions eluded us though!

They wanted to save it for me as a pet (I said no, so it probably has ended up in a stew as a previous person has suggested!). I have had real trouble getting peeps on this site to believe I have albino newts in my pond (not that I have seen any for ages), but it does seem to me that colourless amphibians are more common than everyone thinks! A bit like little egrets, according to most books I have, they don't come to UK, but I am in no doubt I watched one for about 15 mins a couple of weeks ago. (Really bad photos available if anyone interested)

I think my point was that just because people haven't seen many of something, doesn't mean they aren't there. I joined the site when I realised I had so much going on in my pond and needed help identifying things and taking care I didn't hurt anything. It has turned into a minor obsession, stalking my pond in the middle of the night, in the rain and trying to spot all things amphibian wherever I go! Two years ago I was horrified to discover we had frogs, toads and slow worms in the garden, now they are my babies (except the slow worms, can't warm to them!). I think it was the newts that did it though, they are just so funny to watch and very beautiful. I hope you've got lots to look at too!

I'm jealous of you, I'd love to sit in the dark and watch activity in my garden pond. I really really really want a pond in our garden but my meanie mother won�t let me have one. We've got a huge garden, it'd be ideal but she says no. It�s not faaaiiirrr!!!! I do go and check out a pond at a nearby golf course every so often though and there�s lots of tadpoles in summer and I�ve seen a couple of newts there before. I miss most of the action though cos I only go in the daytime. I have seen frogs getting jiggy with it from time to time in ponds though. It's dead exciting to watch. My mum is a right meanie, I�ve begged her for ages but she says no and gets right grumpy. It�d mean she�d have to do some work because I wouldn�t be the one putting it in. I�m a weakling and can�t do hard manual work and I wouldn�t want to get soil on my fingers anyway. My mum�s boyfriend would probably do most of the work but they just don�t get round to doing things, there�s a tonne of other gardening jobs and alterations that need doing first and they don�t get round to doing them because they�re unmotivated. Plus our garden is on a bit of a slope but I�m pretty sure a pond could be done, but neither of them are geared up for doing one. They just don�t want to. They can�t be bothered. If on the slim chance I ever move out of home I�ll have to pay someone to do one for me! I�d love to be able to stroke my bunny and at the same time spectate frog bonking at night. Have you asked your mum if she will let you dig a pond and spend your own money lining it etc? You could ask for the things you need to do it as birthday and Christmas presents. I am sure that if you show enough commitment your family will help you but that would mean getting your own hands dirty. That is what life is like.

I�d need her permission, she�d have to tell me where I�m allowed to do it, she�d have to oversee every little thing I do because she says I�m pathetic and useless, I can�t even use the microwave without being told off for doing something wrong , I doubt she�d feel comfortable with me bashing around in the garden or using her tools, I doubt she�d let me do it. If I did start off digging a hole I bet she�d end up having to take over and she�d get really really grumpy with me. She�s scary when she�s grumpy. Dunno if I have the strength to dig a hole, the soil is hard ain�t it? I was born with a defunct back and I get backache within minutes if I have to bend down. I�ve got skinny arms, I don�t think I could dig a big hole. I�d defo need an adult to help me (and preferably do all the work ). I�ll beg my mum again and see if she�s a bit more up for the idea now but I bet she�ll just get angry with me and bite my head off. I�ve got money in my bank so the cost wouldn�t matter much. I�d really like a huge pond, one that�s got a deep end, and an island, but I think it�s only a dream. I don�t think our garden will ever see a pond. Life is full of disappointments. BTW, one of my internet friends sent me a frog book the other day, it�s all in German but the photos in it are amazing and there�s some albino looking frogs. The one pictured is only about 2-feet long, and had frogs and toads using it within a week ! Takes 10 minutes to dig a small hole and drop it in. Add a brick or a breeze-block as a small island :P I once had 4 frogs and 2 toads in it at the same time! Can you spot the frog?? Your planter idea is top hot! It�s dead great that froggies use your planter but I don�t need one now cos Baby Has some news. Baby�s growing up! My meanie mummy is getting rid of me and I�m buying my very own little house and I�ve found one that already comes with a pond and over 30 froggies! It�s a small pond but it�s deep and has different levels and has a 25 year guarantee on the lining and the froggies come outside and sit on a tree stump in summer and catch a tan apparently?! The lady who owns the house right now showed me a photo of them! & there�s spawn in right now so soon there will be babies. The pond ain�t been there long, all the froggies wandered away from the nearby lake into the garden. I ain�t got no photo of the pond to show you but I can show you my new house. It�s the middle one of these three and the pond is near the house with a few shrubs nearby and there�s a lawn in the front garden. & here�s the view from the back and the lake is in the background on the left. It�s a National Trust lake. As you can see behind the house is all wooded and frog friendly but the other way is built up and there�s a main road a couple of minutes away on foot but the lady says that her frogs stay nearby and don�t wander away and I�ve only seen one squashed one on the cul de sac so I think they�ve got a pretty good home. & I can keep an eye out on the road and if I see one ever I can rush out and put it to safety cos I�m a good little girl. Me moving house might have a bad effect on my local toads though. I�ve always relied on walking down the frog catching road to work to spot fatalities for me to know which nights to go out frogging but I won�t be walking down that road no more so I won�t get a frog indicator of when to go out. But I�ve made sure my new house is still within range so that I can still go frogging cos I wouldn�t want to leave all my babies to tackle the busy road by themselves cos that would be mean. I�m dead excited to be getting a new house where my meanie mum won�t be around to shout at me. I hope I don�t starve and die though, or even worser, let Henry (my bunny ) starve and die, Mummy went away for two weeks recently and I lost weight cos we ran out of microwave meals and Jaffa Cakes. & I ain�t never been shopping on my own before. Do people here like the look of my new house? Daddy and Big Brother Chris says I�m making the biggest mistake of my life buying that one, they don�t like it one bit, I think it�s the best house to choose though if it means it will aggravate them loads and make them angry with me. Mummy and Uncle Derek think it�s good though and I think it�s good. It�s dead nicely decorated inside and only needs paint on a few ceilings, there�s a few things to do but not much. Henry�s going to have the spare bedroom and Uncle Derek is going to make him a pen in there. I ain�t letting him have the full run of the house cos Henry does sloppy poos and sits on them and squidjes them and he�d ruin the cream carpets in no time. Oh and BTW when my Mummy came back from holiday she brought me 4 glass frog ornaments. & in the toilet I�m gonna put up my frog toilet roll holder. Uncle Derek saw it in a skip a few years ago and thought of me. When you pull the loo roll it�s mouth open and closes. I�ve got lots of froggy things. I�ve got some big froggy slippers! I�ve got a bright green Kermit The Frog hoodie with red glitsy writing on that Mummy got me for my birthday which I look super cool wearing. The receptionist here went to France and she brought me back a fab, fab wood frog ornament and you stroke it�s back with a stick and it makes a noise of a frog and I play with it loads. I got some great froggy knickers from Primark and they�re my favourist knickers ever cos they�re green and have frogs all over just like my avator. My pen pal gave me a necklace with a frog pendant on for my birthday and it�s well ace and I love it heaps. & my German Auntie K on a Robbie Williams forum sent me a German book all about frogs, it�s all in German so I don�t understand it but the pictures are dead fantastic and I don�t like words anyway. Frogs are well fab, I want more frog stuff. PS. I re-located over 200 toads this year. Are you dead proud of me? Are you? I wanted presents from lots of you.
