Posted: 29 Jan 2006 ohw did they get here i wonder!!! I think that breeders sometimes deliberatly let some go because they'd love to see them in the wild Reptiles & Amphibians of France: www.herpfrance.com European Field Herping Community: www.euroherp.com |

Posted: 31 Jan 2006 If they want to see them in the wild, GO TO FRANCE/GERMANY!!!!, sometimes alien species can have nasty effects on our native herps, like the Cane Toad in Australia, killing all those Red-Bellied Black Snakes. Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

Posted: 01 Feb 2006 Yeah, but he teaches the world about animal conservation, and does captive breeding programmes for rare and endangered species, and he is partly what attracted me to reptiles and amphibians, and ever since my first show, i've looked all over for lizards, and used some of the same techniques he uses on massive crocs on the lizards I find, although in a smaller form Some of the best ones are the trip to Belize (Morlets Crocodile), and the crocs of Tampa and Cancun (American Crocodiles). What does anyone else think? Does anyone watch Austin Stephens: Most Dangerous? I think it's excellent. Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

Posted: 02 Feb 2006 The Common or Grass Frog (Rana temporaria) occasionally has a rather red belly. BTW, no Fire Bellied Toad (Bombina bombina) but Yellow Bellied Toad (B. variegata) in France (in the wild, that is). Jeroen Speybroeck http://www.hylawerkgroep.be/jeroen/ |

Posted: 13 Feb 2006
Does anyone watch Austin Stephens: Most Dangerous? I think it's excellent.
I do. I'm waiting for dear Austin to get seriously envenomated by one of the 'wild' snakes he's working with... two bites on one show, and apparently the cobra was a captive specimen that'd been carted out to the back of beyond and just happened to get the drop on him. I vastly prefer Steve Irwin - he doesn't do things to deliberately rile up wild reptiles, and he handles them with respect and care. Posted: 14 Feb 2006 I've got the cobra bite clip on my desktop. It really cheers me up when I'm stuck doing the accounts each month. I feel it's probably better not to comment on Mr Stevens other than to ask why the disco channel keep referrng to him as a professional wildlife photography when he appears not to know one end of a camera from the other. Ah sod it, fingers crossed, BRING ON THE DARWIN AWARD! Lee. Lee Fairclough |

Posted: 15 Feb 2006 Oh man, almost had me crying with laughter on this thread. But I have to admit, I love to watch the Stevens' shows, tho' I'm always rooting for the snake :P Steve Langham - Chairman Surrey Amphibian & Reptile Group (SARG). |

Posted: 01 May 2006 Dan kane, I dont think much of steves habit of diving upon reptiles But i think austin steven is a bit of an idiot one epiMicke he almost acted like his life was almost tragikly taken when a non-venomous snake lashed out on him and he jumped out of a 1 and a half metre tree Gloucestershire`s first exotic pet show! http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/general-herp-chat/320967-glou cestershire-reptile-show-2010-a.html |

Posted: 08 May 2006 Steve obviously knows his animals but is indeed a showman. Of course the snake is all fired up after being rugby tackled by some big australian and held unceremoniously in the air He shows little respect for the creatures Mark O'Shea is much better |
