Hi All,

With the arrival of the new NARRS forum Chris has kindly offered to include RAUK as a partner in the project. I'm sure this is something all our members would be keen to see. I've filled in the form but we do not currently have a logo for RAUK to include on the NARRS website.

So can anyone come up with a design? You can see the sort of format that we would need here:

http://www.narrs.org.uk/narrspartners.htm

I have some old logos that used to be used for the site, but I would love to see a new one from a forum member. Maybe we can have some ideas posted in this thread and then a vote for the winner?

transferring it to the site has deformed it a bit, and there's obviously some refining to do but here's my effort.

Any more contributions to this? Or do people think it is time to choose a winner?

I'd let it run for a bit yet :P although I like Tim's logo. How about posting up the old RAUK logos you designed Gemma?

Tim's is much better than anything I did Steve (though I think if Tim's silhouettes represented UK species it would be really spot-on - you will notice most logos avoid snakes also as most people don't like them LOL - of course just my observations - I really like the format) Shall we let it run another week then? Any comments from others?

Hi Mike, long time since I've seen you on the forums, hope all is well!

I've  had a dig around various old hard drives and can't find it. It was basically a piccy of Al's common frog from the ID pages with 'RAUK' written under it. Don't know if anyone remembers it?

All is well, have been spending a lot of time fighting a prospective development on what was part of Brickfields and that we feel should be returned to us.

Al's frog - this one ?

We are still serving lots of your content and I remembered it once wou mentioned it.

Mike.

if you do want to use the logo i'd re-do the whole thing anyway...that was just to give an idea really. i'd probably look at different colour schemes although they would be unlikely to change too much (the dark green is a bit harsh though). i'm also not sure about the taddies.

as for the silhouettes, the lizard one was based on a drawing of a gecko and the frog was originally a tree frog. i changed them by hand into what i thought might pass for uk species but obviously didn't do as good a job as i'd hoped. however there shouldn't be a problem doing them again - i'll just let you see them first as what i think looks ok may look like a creature from another planet to you guys!

gemma, are you suggesting the snake should go? if so it would be better to replace it with something else rather than just have the two...three is the magic number when it comes to composition.

finally, i would urge other people to have a go also. just have a quick look on the web for inspiration...there's plenty out there.

Hi Tim,

I must admit I like the taddies I vote THE TADDIES STAY

Sorry about the silhouettes - plane spotter you see I could spot which species they were derived from  But the concept is great and works very well.

Yep IMHO the snake has to go.

I would suggest common lizard then a Great Crested (good outline shape) then a common frog or common toad. Can't have snakes/slow-worms people will run away from the logo. (This might sound crazy and it took some time for me to believe this but it is actually true, many people will see the logo as 'negative' simply because it has a snake included) I was once was kicked off an Internet forum for posting a picture of an adder in a discussion about photography because it 'offended' so many members!

taddies and great crested newt in - snake out...although i have to say how astonishingly sad it is that people have that attitude. i almost can't belive it.

i'm not sure how i'll get my drawings past your anorak...er...i mean eagle eye but i'll give it a go.

tim

Art was never a strong point I'm afraid, now rebuilding a diesel without a manual, that's different.
