I was browsing through a photo agency gallery and came across an adder eating a sand lizard, this from Poland.
I may have asked this before, but has anyone a definite record of an adder preying on sand lizard in the UK. I havn't. One thinks that they must do. But on my sites at Hartland and Furzebrook where both are thick on the ground, never recorded it. Also individual adult sand lizards have persisted for years. Maybe its the immature that get nailed and largely go unnoticed.

Polish herpetologist Wlodzimierz Juszczyk has examinated stomaches of adult adders and he found Zootoca vivipara, amphibians (Rana temporaria, R. arvalis) and of course small mammals (Rodentia & Insectivora).
