hi folks,

ive had 4 common hawkers (aeshna juncea) emerge in the last week or so from my garden pond here in glos (will post pics when ive figured out how to do it!). recorded them for BDS and id'd them via their wonderful site from the nymph cases depicted therein. mine were on iris stems. unfortunately i didnt see the adults

seen any nice ones lately where you are?

Funnily enough I managed to photograph this male emperor yesterday when I was at an adder site.  I usually find the males are difficult to approach, as they're always patrolling their beat, but this one paused for a few seconds near me
